Magpies


Magpies are a Sussex type. Quite a large pullet, also with a lovely calm nature. They lay up to 280 brown eggs in their first year. They are well feathered with white lacing around the neck which does vary, a few have only small amounts whilst others are laced all over.

  2. Average body weight at 20 weeks: 1.600 kg

  3. Average body weight at 72 weeks: 2.400 kg to 2.500 kg

  4. Age at peak of laying period: 26 weeks

  5. Hen housed performance at 72 weeks: up to 280 eggs

  6. Peak of production: 90 % and more

  7. Monthly mortality: 0.3 to 0.5 %

  8. Average egg weight: 63 g

  9. Egg shell colour: brown
